Crap! Not again!

They must have liked Joe over there, because they have asked him to come back, on 1/5! That is only a week from now! He will only be home for 2 weeks. This is really disappointing! He's going to be gone 12 weeks this time. That is only 6 days less than he was gone last time. I'm totally bummed. We haven't even gotten to spend that much time together yet.

Fun times with family!

We've had a fun Christmas. I'll have to take pictures later and post them when I get home. The girls have had a ton of fun. They've played with my neice Jordan the whole time. Jordan doesn't want to go home. :) She's stayed here at my mom's the whole time we've been here, except for Christmas Eve when she had to go home for Christmas morning fun. :)

Christmas is so much fun when you focus on the children. They love the magic of Christmas. What is your favorite Christmas memory?

My favorite Christmas memory is that Santa came twice. We went to church with my grandparents on Christmas Eve. While we were there, Santa came to drop off gifts at my grandparents. It was so much fun! Then on Christmas Eve night, Santa came to our house. It was fun. :) We thought that everyone got a visit from Santa twice. :)

Merry Christmas to all!!!!!!!!!!!

Especially my family! Joe is home, AMEN! All I wanted for Christmas was him, and I got it! :) He was almost 3 hours late! The girls and I had to wait at the Airport all of that time. He was only flying from Salt Lake, so we didn't have time to call and see if his plane was on time, or not. It is only a 50 minute flight. So we waited and waited.

Now we're down in Pheonix. I'm sitting across from my mom. We went shopping a little today. We tried to go see a movie, but there isn't really anything out we want to see. Darnit! So we went to Target. I love that store. :)

Jamie and Faith stayed home with Papa and helped him go grocery shopping and start preperations for tonights dinner. Joe went 4wheeling with one of my brothers. I'm sure he's having a ball! He adjusted very well to being back in our time zone. Whew! :)

I'm going to go. My sister Ronni just got here. Love you all! And Merry Christmas!

Less than 24 hours left!

I'm soooooooo excited! :) :) :) I can't wait to see Joe. I'm going to be of very little use tomorrow at work. I did just find out I'm getting a new student, so I can prepare for that. I took notes for the MDT meetings today so I would have something to focus on. :)

This is going to be a great Christmas for us. I can't wait to see him! :)

What a fun evening!

That was a ton of fun! I had my assistants over for a fun filled evening of laughs and food! Everyone brought over a ton of food. We all sat around my kitchen table and ate and laughed. :) We were able to relax and enjoy each others company. I work with a great bunch of ladies. I am truely blessed. God had given me a great staff this year, and I couldn't do what I do without them.

10 days and counting!!!!!!!

Wow! The time with Joe gone is almost done! It hasn't gone by quick, and it wasn't her before I knew it. I'm so glad that it is gone. Whew! Joe is really ready to be home too. Christmas is going to be so much fun for us, since we'll be able to enjoy each other in Phoenix. Joe still has to work over part of Christmas break. The girls and I will have to do some serious relaxing! :) Thanks for reading. :)

2 Weeks Left!

Wahoo! Only 2 weeks left to go until we are done! I'm so excited to have Joe home. I miss him so much. :) I'm so glad that all of this is almost behind us. I wish I knew about Phoenix so we could start making plans. The guy that might be Joe's future boss is in The Netherlands. So he's going to interview Joe while he's there.

I dropped the ball!

I was supposed to be at the church at 10 a.m. I thought it was at noon! So I showed up at 11 to decorate my table and it was 1/2 way over! URG! Stupid! I am mad at myself. URG!

But I just talked to Joe for more than an hour and feel much better. I still feel sad though because I miss him. Many people have told me that they'd be glad to see their husband go on a business trip. But I'm best friends with Joe. We get along great, and he's a huge help around the house. You can sure tell he's been away! We're going to have to do some major damage control tomorrow. YIKES! Messy!

I hope that I don't drop the ball anymore, but when you're juggling as many balls as I am right now, you're bound to drop one here and there.

My Spa Day!

I've been feeling tired, and stressed with all that has been going on these last two months with Joe gone. Last week was ready stressful, so I decided I needed a spa day. Joe has said that I can go whenever I want, so I went Monday! I went the whole day and it was a little slice of relaxation heaven. My day started with a facial. That relaxed me so much that I kept falling asleep during my massage, which was next. After my massage I dragged myself to get my hair cut. That was fun. She gave me layers, and thinned it out so it isn't so fluffy. :) After a relaxing lunch I got a manicure and pedicure. It was soooooo relaxing. :) I feel much better. And now we only have 22 days until Joe comes home. Yipeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

What are you thankful for?

1. I'm thankful that I have a husband to miss over the holidays. One of my online friends just lost her husband, and she's going to be so lonely.

2. I'm thankful f or my normal girls who are smart and healthy. I have my students to thank for making me feel this even more everyday that I work with them. Bless their little hearts.

3. I'm thankful Joe has a job, and that he works for this company and not Micron who is doing poorly right now.

4. I'm thankful a friend invited me to her house for Thanksgiving so the girls and I don't have to spend it by ourselves.

5. I'm thankful to live in a country that allows us to practice our religion out in the open, at least at church, and not be persecuted.

Joe has applied for the Tempe, AZ job

Wow! We might be moving to Phoenix. While this is an awesome move, because my family lives there, I'm stressed! We have to sell out house, I'll miss my friends, my job, my house. While selling out house, I'll have to keep it clean. And I don't know what I'll do with Maggie when someone wants to see the house. But we'll come to that when we come to that.

I'm excited about living closer to my family. My neices are getting big, and I'll be able to see my sister when she comes to visit my mom. I am going to love having the girls spend more time with my parents. I have a feeling I won't be seeing them too much on the weekends. :-)

I'd better get ready for work. I have a big, busy day ahead of me.

P.S. The girls and I are here until the house sells, or school gets done. :-)

Maybe Phoenix?

Joe thinks that Phoenix might be a possibility for us to move to. That would be awesome! I would love to live by my family again. It would be a dream come true. :) Joe might be promoted to go down there. And I'd get paid more too. The cost of living has gone way down too. So houses are more affordable.

I hope to find more out this week.

My Elanor!

One of my students, Elanor, was on TV. I don't normally like to talk about my students online, but this one is on line! And I wanted to introduce my family to her, and let my friends who have moved away see how she's doing! There are two links for her.

Elanor was on the news here recently. She was granted a wish from Wishing Star. She did her room and it looks great! They even put a therapy swing in it. :-) That site is 6onyourside.com

Elanor's mom also made a site for her so that she could keep everyone updated on her surgery. The surgery was supposed to be last summer. It was going to be very invasive. They found an easier way to keep her back straight after they straighten it. They used a titanium rib. Her surgery was a week ago Monday. She's doing great! She had a set back, and the "rib" came unattatched. They reattatched it today and she's doing good after that surgery. This site is http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/elanoranne

Enjoy!

Uncertain Future

Joe's company just got word that they are cutting their contract way down with Micron. They are cutting their work force her by a lot. Joe doesn't know if this means he'll stay here, or if we're moving. We may move to Virgina, Texas, or Oregon. I'm secretly hoping Phoenix could be a possibility, but not much hope.

I wish things could be the same, but I know that to grow in my life, changes are inevitable. I know that Jesus will work everything out to be for the best. Poor Joe though. He's all over there by himself stewing over all of this. I feel so bad for him.

Please say a prayer for us. This might be a bumpy road.

Long, long week. I'm glad it's over!

We had parent/teacher conferences this week. Whew! That always makes for a long week. I had progress reports to work on, and then the conferences. I had a lot of parents come to conferences. Very interesting. Everything went well. I helped out with the Book Fair. I think it went well this year, even with a lot less kids. The librarian was busier without the help she had last year, and sick. So I tried to help her out.

One of my students had surgery this week. She was doing better, slipped a little bit. I sure hope she's doing better. Her mom will probably let us know tonight. I miss her. She's not supposed to be back until after Thanksgiving. I sure hope so.

40 days until Joe comes home! Sunday it will be 39! That is in the 30s! It is getting closer! :-)

Tuesday, November 6, 2007

Joe is 1/2 way done!

Thank goodness! It is all down hill from here, and down hill goes much faster than uphill! So I hope that his second half goes much faster than the first half. Poor guy is so ready to come home. He misses us girls, and all of the comforts of the USA.

Look at What Faith Can Do!

F learned to ride her bike without training wheels! She hasn't been riding on her training wheels lately, so I took them off and off she went! It only took a minute of being unsure, but then she took off. :) She is so excited, and so am I! Too bad Joe wasn't here to see it. I sent him pictures. :-)

What Super Hero would you be?

Your Superpower Should Be Mind Reading

You are brilliant, insightful, and intuitive.

You understand people better than they would like to be understood.

Highly sensitive, you are good at putting together seemingly irrelevant details.

You figure out what's going on before anyone knows that anything is going on!

Why you would be a good superhero: You don't care what people think, and you'd do whatever needed to be done

Your biggest problem as a superhero: Feeling even more isolated than you do now

Wahoo! Happy Dance! I got an A!

Wahoo!!!!!!! I got an A! I can't believe it! :) I haven't had a chance to look over the paper yet. I got a high B on the paper. So I'll have to look it over and make sure I don't make those mistakes again. I proud that I could do all of that, with J out of the country! And the house hasn't fallen down, or be infested or anything. It looks pretty good, if I do say so myself. :)

So I have had two classes, and two As. :-) 4.0 baby!

New Blog template

I was inspired by my sister to find a new blog template for my blog. I love decorating for the holidays. This is a quick easy way to decorate something. So I think I'll decorate my blog. Cute huh? My sister has a neat blog too, you should check it out. She's listed on my blog buddies list. :-)

Happy Halloween!

Busy week at school!

Wow! This week has been crazy! Yesterday we had a big scare. A girl said that she was almost abducted. Fortunately it was not true. Whew! We had cops everywhere, and the media.

Today a poor little fella choked on his lunch so bad that he turned purple. So they called 911 and an ambulance came and took him to the hospital. He's okay, but he may have aspirated some of his food. So we had an ambulance and a fire truck here for that.

I think our school has had it fill of visitors for the year.

4 weeks down, 9 to go

9 weeks to go. And I'm sure missing Joe. He's going to Brussels again tomorrow. Lucky guy! I'm glad he's not just hanging out in his apartment by himself.

J and F are had a good time this week. It amazes me everyday how well they play together. They are such good girls and enjoy each other. I hope that this doesn't change.

We went to Red Robin's tonight. The girls really missed Joe while we were there. J said, "We used to come here everyday with daddy." hehe! NOT! We don't eat out that much, silly! :) We wish we could have had him with us, but it was nice to not have to cook and clean.

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

I miss Joe!

The days are not going by fast enough. I miss Joe so much. He is 8 hours ahead, so it works out just the wrong way for us to connect during the week. We still have 9 1/2 weeks away yet. I am looking forward to him coming home, that is for sure. He's missing us a lot too.

What Color Are You?

You Are a Yellow Crayon

Your world is colored with happy, warm, fun colors.
You have a thoughtful and wise way about you. Some people might even consider you a genius.
Charming and eloquent, you are able to get people to do things your way.
While you seem spontaneous and free wheeling, you are calculating to the extreme.

Your color wheel opposite is purple. You both are charismatic leaders, but purple people act like you have no depth.

Halloween's Coming!

The Halloween season is upon us. The girls are excited to decorate for Halloween. I'll have to get all of my fall things down this weekend. I wasn't going to do pumpkins this year, since we're by ourselves again for Halloween. But I think we need something fun to do since Joe is out of town. Life it too short, so we must carve!

J and F are doing well in school. F is in a new group that is a little higher than the one she was in before. The group she was in before had a bunch of rowdy boys in it, and she wasn't getting anything done. But her teacher says she's doing better now, and improving. Whew! J is doing well, of course. I don't have to worry about her. She is a great student. She misses big J though. More than I thought she would. We went to Build a Bear last weekend and she cried while we were there. Big J usually takes us there. We left without buying anything! I think that is a first.

I hope you all enjoy the change of the season. 9 1/2 weeks until Joe gets home, and 9 1/2 weeks until Christmas Break. Those happen to be the same day! :-)

An Answer to Prayer!

My mom coming to visit me was an answer to prayer. I was getting pretty sad before she came. And we were just going to be lazy and hang out of the house. But then my mom calls and is coming to visit for the weekend! I'm so happy! She was lucky and got the last seat on the plane. It was so packed, so it had to be a God thing. We had fun shopping today, and eating out. I'll have to skip eating next week to make up for it! :)

So now after my mom leaves, I'm going to focus on getting through this. Hopefully I won't end up moping around like I was before.

Back to the basics

My lovely sister was writing about the frustration about having to learn from the same mistakes, and the same lesssons over and over. I reminded her that in any relationship we need to get back to the basics, whether it is with Christ, or with your mate. We get caught up in our lives and own personal trials, that we forget about our relationships.

One thing is for sure, Joe and I are starting back at the basics. All we have right now is communication. And not even over the phone. We can talk over google talk, but that doesn't always work. So today we chatted on line. I don't think he's a very fast typer. But I think we have more conversation this way, that we do face to face. Very interesting. The conversation lasts longer when you type, thats for sure! I think when we go to Phoenix, we'll have to spend a lot of time together!

My mom just called! She's in Vegas! She's flying up here to see me!!!!!!!!!!! How awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited. So I guess I'd better get dressed. I'm still in my jammies! After all, you don't need to get dressed to read homework.

My research paper is done!

My rough draft is anyway. Now two of my peers will read it, and make corrections. I have to read two of my peers papers as well. I'm glad I have two days off this week to work on these papers, as well as a webquest power point presentation. Whew! I have a lot of reading to do!

I am excited to have two days off this week so I can spend some time with the girls too. I'm going to take them to see Hairspray on Thursday. I suspect that this will be the last day it will be in the theaters. We can see the movie and then go out for dinner. It will be a fun outing for us. :-)

I look forward to reading your replies. Helps me not miss big J as much.

1 week down, 11 to go!

Big J has 11 weeks to go in Holland. He isn't very sure about what he's doing there. He's in research and development. Not an area he thought he's be in. He thought he'd be watching a machine being made.

Little J got a great progress report today. She's doing so well in school. Her teacher would like 20 more of her. She behaves so well and works really hard at school.

F has the hearts of everyone who works with her. She has such a magnetic personality. We were watching Holes last night and she got scared at a part where a boy was throwing up and looked like he was really sick. She's so sweet and hates to see anyone hurt. America's Funniest Home Video is her least favorite show because of all the people getting hurt.

As for me, I'll be working on a research paper all weekend. I hope I can get it done. If not, I'll have to take a day off on Monday.

You Scored an A
You got 10/10 questions correct.

It's pretty obvious that you don't make basic grammatical errors.
If anything, you're annoyed when people make simple mistakes on their blogs.
As far as people with bad grammar go, you know they're only human.
And it's humanity and its current condition that truly disturb you sometimes.

90 days until Joe comes home!

The girls and I dropped Joe at the airport this morning. We left at 5:30, so the girls just went in their jammies. Joe will be back here in 90 days. We have a countdown on our desk calendar. We'll be marking off the days until he comes home. We'll miss him very much.

On the way home I was going to go to Albertsons to get dougnuts. But the girls didn' t have their shoes, so we hit the Krispy Kream drive through! :)

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

2 days left with Joe

2 days left until Joe leaves! Boyhowdy! I'm going to miss him. Then it will be 90 days until he comes home. Us girls are going to be pretty lonesome for him. I'm not even sure when we'll be able to talk to each other. We both have google talk in order to still talk to each other. We've been testing it while Joe was in Lehi.

J and F both had two different stomach flus this week. F's knocked her out and she slept for 36 hours. J's was super quick and over with quickly. 6 kids went home from our school today because they were throwing up. Those germs are all mixing around now that the kids are back in school. I hope Joe doesn't get it. That is the last thing he'll need while traveling.

6 Years ago today

6 years ago today, my sil was going to file for divorce. But as you know everything was closed due to 9/11. So she wasn't able to go file. Then my brother called her and told her to wait because he was in the Army. If he went to war, then she'd get more benefits if they were still married. Long story short, they are still married to this day. They made up and have even had a little boy since then.

That was a horrible, terrible day. I will never forget what I was doing when I found out we were under attack. I was getting ready for Bible study. My mom called me and told me we were under attack. I thought she was being dramatic. (Sorry mom) Alas, she was right. I woke up Joe, who was working nights, and we sat there until 1:00 watching the TV. I set up the girls with videos in the livingroom so they wouldn't have to see the horror.

I have faith that God was there in the towers that day. He was there to help the people who knew they were going to die. And the people who were there to help the hurt and injured get out of the building. God was there to stop some people from going to work on time, and not be in the buildings when they were hit. And God will always be with those left behind.

Feeling a bit stressed!

Joe just got word that he is going to Holland for 3 months in two weeks! I wouldn't be as stressed about it if I wasn't already working on my Master's. Plus this year I am dealing with 14 students, and 7 assistants. OI! So I'm very tired, and worried about how I'm going to get through this. I know I'm not supposed to worry. God wouldn't give me more than I can handle. He must think highly of me, because this seems like a lot of faith to have in me. Joe is going to be gone until 12/22. Yes, three days before Christmas! He said that he's going to take the next two weeks off, so that will be nice.

To help deal, I am going to hire someone to help me clean the house, and I bought paper dishes. Joe is a huge help around the house, as many of you know. He's already been in Salt Lake for a week and 1/2 and will be there another week and a half. So it is almost like 4 months. At least he comes home from SL every week to see us, and help me around the house.

Please pray for peace for me. Also for the girls, and Joe. The girls and I are going to miss Joe. And he'll miss his girls.

1st day of school!

J and F have had their first day of school. They left with new clothes, backpacks, supplies, and dreams for the new school year. They have awesome teachers and are off to a good start. Now we are gonig to enjoy the Labor Day weekend and relax. I'm going to get caught up on school, and my paper work from work.

AWESOME!

The Josh Groban concert was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had so much fun. About 1/2 way through, the violinist was playing a solo and all of a sudden there was security all over the entry way by where we were sitting. Then out pops Josh! It was so cool. We were in the second row from the walkway, so we were so close to him, we could have touched him, if he came up to the seats! That was neat. He stood there for a minute singing. Then he walked down to the floor and went through a couple of rows down there.

He is so funny too, which makes him all the more cuter! I'm sitting her at Meet the Teacher night and listening to him. I don't get too many parents on these nights. They've mostly met their teachers by now in my classroom. :-)

Josh Groban tonight!

A friend and I are going to see Josh Groban tonight. My friend's dh drives a bus, or van for the fire fighters and he has to work this week. They didn't know if he'd be busy when they bought the tickets or not. But we've had a very busy fire season this year.
Anyway, this means that Bunny and I are going to see him tonight! Wahoo! I have his 2003 CD Closer on my MP3 player, so we can listen to him on the way to the concert. Exciting! :) :) :) I would have never thought of buying tickets to this, because it is so expensive. But one ticket isn't so bad. :)

New students and more assistants

I got three new students over the summer. Two really high needs students, and one not so high need student. I was shocked, and happy when I found out I'm getting one and a half more assistants, putting me up to 6 assistants total. I think I can do it with that many. It was hard at the end of the year last year when we got a high needs student.

Teachers report to work this week. I already have three meetings set up, for the three new students. Busy, busy, busy. So if I'm not around, you know why!

Tuesday, August 14, 2007

Wahoo! My assistants are mostly in order!

I lost three assistants from last year due to them moving away. :-( I just found out that I got one of the best classifieds that I could get! Sandy Hasskiss will be working in my room this year! Wahoo! Something didn't work out with her education, or not working. So I get her in my classroom! Wahoo! I'm so excited. Cool huh? And I'm not too worried about getting another .5 assistant because I just got two more students this summer. One is very high needs, so I shouldn't have a problem. That will cover all of the grade, and have me in the classroom, half of the day. Wahoo! (Happy dance)

I'll still miss my assistants who moved away though. ((((((HUGS)))))))

Back to school!

I'm back to school today. I need to exercise, then I'm going to get right back into the study. I did read some of our assigned reading yesterday. So I'm a little ahead. I want to get as much done today as I can, so I can enjoy my last week off of work. Next week on Wed. I report back to Hunter. Well, I have a little work to do before then: get some IEPs together, set up a meeting, hire three assistants.

The girls are having fun. F doesn't want to go to all day school. It will cut into her play time. LOL! She's too funny. I think she'll like it once she's there. She's quitting gymnastics. BUMMER! She was so good at it. She doesn't enjoy it anymore. :-( When she's seven, I think we'll start piano lessons for her. She's been trying to play what J's been playing. It is cute. :)

Well, I'd better get on with my day, so I can get a lot of school work done. :-)

Our New Piano!

Jamie has been doing so well at piano and out grew the electric keyboard. So last week after piano practice, we dropped by a local piano store to browse the merchandise. I was thinking they'd have a nice used piano, but this piano was by the front door, and was on sale. It was a great sale, so we bought it. :-) It comes with another tuning now that we've received it, and a 10 year warranty. Jamie and I both played it today. It sure sounds great! I'll have to go dig out my piano music from upstairs. :-)

I'm going back to school!

I applied to the Master's in reading program at NNU this summer and originally was put on the waiting list. I applied too late. Well, yesterday after taking the first class, someone bailed! Wahoo! I'm in! I got all started today and am just waiting for the woman in charge of the program to call me back with specifics. Too cool! The program is 23 months, or so. So I will one busy mommy until then. The picture posted above is a fish eye picture of the campus. I think that is about it. It is a small, but very good school. :-)

Daddy's Birthday!

Today we're celebrating Daddy's Birthday! The girls and I made him his favorite cake, German Chocolate Cake. He loves that kind. He'll probably have to take the leftovers to work tomorrow. I don't want to be at home with this cake! I'll eat too much.

We're home!

We just got back from a very relaxing visit with my family. My mom and I were very lazy and just "cleaned" off her DVR. We watched a lot of "What Not to Wear" and "Property Ladder." It was fun. :) We also played computer Yahtzee. I got pretty good. My mom has been playing on a little hand held game. We had a great time with my neices, and brothers and sisters. It was a very nice, relaxing time. We didn't have to run around like crazy people, or try to fit everything in. Very nice!

Maybe, maybe not?

I applied too late for the program at NNU for a Master's in Reading. I am first on the waiting list, so if one person changes their mind, then I get in. The program starts on July 23rd, so ... Actually, I don't know. We'll see. If I don't get in, I might change to another major, or wait until the next program starts next summer. We'll see. It is, and has been, in God's hands. No biggie. I'll get in when I get in. We'll see.

Scott and Marlena Get Married!

Joe's and my best friend from highschool finally got married, almost 15 years after Joe and I got married. He married Marlena a great gal he met in New Zealand. She's from Germany, and that is where they are going to live for the first 2 years of their marriage at least. It was a great weekend. We had a ball seeing all of our highschool friends, and Scott's parents. I lived with Scott's parents for a year and a half almost two years. They took me in when I needed a place to stay. I consider them my Colorado family.
Faith made a friend. One of our HS friend's son, Jarren. They were fast friends. Faith found out that they are both 6. So she said, "Mom, we are both six. Can we be boyfriend and girfriend?" That was sooooooooo funny! hehe!
The last picture if of me and Faith. We had dresses that almost matched. So we had to get a picture of us together. Aren't we cute? :-)

Happy 4th of July week!

What is everyone doing for the 4th? We're going to just hang out at home I think. Not much. With J in AZ still, we're just being mellow. We already watched fireworks last week. I'll have to see if there are any other fireworks we could watch.

This last week we had a lot of appointments. But this week, nothing. No gymnastics, no doctor's appointments, nothing! Just hanging out with my little F. :)

Yahoo!!!!!! Great news!

My dad is at home! He had a partial blockage, and the cleaned that up and put a stint in. My poor mom is so releaved. She tried her best to be strong. But she was so scared. I'm proud of her. She was so strong.

The doctor said dad is so strong they can still go to San Diego next week. Wahoo! J will be happy. She's been looking forward to this so much.

I've also got all of the paper work going for my application for NNU. I hope to hear back from them soon. :) If I get in this "cohort", or session, I'll start July 23rd. I thought I'd have to wait longer. Pretty neat!

Major happenings!

1st of all, my dad collapsed on Friday, scaring us all to death! They did some tests and found out he is anemic. They're not for sure why his iron is so low. They wanted to wait and run more tests this week, so they did a stress test on him Saturday to see if he could go home. He failed. There were some anomolies on his EKG. So he's had to sit at the hospital all weekend. Something he doesn't do well. He is always moving. Today they are going to cath on his heart to see if there is a blockage, and repair if need be. Then, if all goes well, he can go home tomorrow. Please keep him in your prayers. J was pretty shook up over all of this. But she is able to visit her Papa and play Uno with him.

On the home front, F is 6 today! Where did the time go? Seems like she was just a new born baby in my arms. Now she is a Monkey! Oh, right now she is playing a cat. :-) We just put a cake in the oven, and later we're going to go see Evan Almighty. It looks like a great movie, and clean enough for kids.

I've decided to go for my Master's degree. I'm leaning towards the online program at NNU in Reading. I was thinking about University of Phoenix, but they aren't the best school, and really crunch the classes into a small space of time. I think NNU will do that too, but they are much more prestigous, and care about their students more than UofP. I think they'll cost about the same too, so that is a no brainer! :)

Swim, swim, swim!

Man! It has been so hot here lately. The last two days, Joe, F and I have gone swimming at our subdivision's pool. It sure has been nice. And F is enjoying having her parents to herself. We've gone to the zoo, gone shopping at ToysRUs and shopped for shoes! :-) F and I got matching shoes. When we get J, we'll have to get her a matching pair too.

Joe is busy putting a super charger in his Mustang. He's having a ball. He loves working with that car. It is a great hobby for him. Just don't tell him I said so. hehe!

I've been busy looking up Master's programs on line. I really want to get my Master's on line, not at a school. We are kind of out far away from any of the colleges here. So it would mean driving far to get to a school, and I don't really want the hassle of finding parking, worrying about my safety, etc. I'd rather just stay home and take my classes. :-) I'm kind of a home body that way. I'm going to check into The University of Phoenix. I think I'm going to get my degree in Early Childhood Education. That way someday I can teach Preschool. I miss preschool.

F has a gymnastics meet on Sat. I'll be sure to post about that!

I miss J!

I miss J! She's in Phoenix with my mom. Actually right now she is hanging out wtih my neice at her house. And having a ball, I bet! I tried to talk to her last night and she was giggling so much she couldn't talk! My mom had four of my neices at her house. Ages 9,8,3, and 1 years old. What a great time they all had! They swam, had dinner, and giggled and giggled. :-)

My house is sooooooooooo quiet! F is upstairs playing with her bff. I'm trying to keep her busy while her sister is gone. We went to the zoo today, and then to Carl's Jr. for lunch.

My Amazing Dad!

I love this day! What a great holiday. A day to honor our daddies and let them know how special they are.

My dad is the best dad. Before he met my mom, he had his three kids raised. He met my mom and she had recently been divorced. She had five kids from the ages of 13 down to 2. He didn't even think twice about marrying all of us! He is such a great dad. He even married my mom after my little sister, who recently learned to write her name, carved it with a rock into the side of dad's Audi! YIKES! What a guy!

My dad would do anything for us. He loves us all so much. And it is so awesome to see the joy he gets from his grandchildren. He just loves them all to pieces! He even changes diapers! And he is so good at getting on their level and playing with them, while caring for them.

But best of all is he loves my mom so much. She didn't have a very good first marriage. And he's taken such good care of her all these years. And she's been very sick a few times. He is by far the best father in the world! I love you Dad!

Visit with my mom

My mom has been in town for a few days. She is going to leave with J on Tuesday. She'll have her for two weeks. F is going to be soooooooooooo lonely! We'll have to make sure we make a lot of play dates.

While my mom was here we painted my livingroom. I'll have to take a picture and post it. Maybe I'll finish the downstairs in the next two weeks while J is gone. If not, that is a goal this summer. My mom painted the arched division between our livingroom, and familyroom blue, and I painted the rest of the livingroom a spring green. It is more yellow than I thought it would be, but it is pretty. I'm not sure Joe likes it.

I'll keep you posted on how F and I do without J here.

A very sad day!

Today Billy Graham's beloved wife died. She had been sick for some time. And recently she had been treated for pneumonia. She was 87 years old, and her family was with her when she went to meet the Lord. She was a precious woman and a big part of Billy Graham's evangelism. Our thoughts and prayers are with Billy and his family.

Yeah! Antibiotics!

My cold turned into Bronchitis. After dodging bronchitis all winter after getting many colds, I'm surprised that I got bronchitis now. Oh well. I should be doing much better by tomorrow at this time. I tried to catch it early this time. In the past I've been bad and not gone in until I've had it for a month or more.

The girls are doing great! They had so much fun playing today. They ate lunch outside together. It was so cute! I hope that Faith will do okay when Jamie is with Grammy in Phoenix.

Summer vacation 2007, so far!

So far summer vacation for our family has meant swimming, playing, swimming, and playing! The girls, who get along famously, have mostly played here at home with their dolls. Too cute! They've only been to a neighbor's house once so far. I just love to watch them play together. The get along so well.

We've been swimming at two friends' houses who have pools. It has been a blast. We haven't been to our subdivision pool yet. A bunch of kids got sick after swimming there. Then after the pool company "took care of it" some more kids got sick. So we have a new pool company. I'm giving them another week to make sure it is under control. Then we'll go swimming in our own pool.

I unfortunately got a cold right after school let out. And it has settled in my lungs. If it isn't gone by Friday, I'm going to see my doctor. I have a tendency to get bronchitis. Bummer!

School's Out For Summer!

I can't believe it! We've been counting down for so long, and here it is! Wahoo!

J is going to keep up with her piano lessons. F is going to do gynmastics for June and August. We're skipping July since we'll be very busy that month. We are going to the zoo, and swimming at friends' pools and out subdivision pool.

I am going to organize and paint the inside of our house. It is still builders off white, and needs some color. And I have some books that I want to read. I hope you all have a great summer. :)

Jamie's Birthday fun!

My little baby, Jamie, is 8! Where did the time go? She's so beautiful and smart and caring. She goes out of her way to make people happy, well, mabye not her sister. But she still loves her.
Jamie had two of her bestest friends over and they did nails, movies, pizza, dirt cups and cake. It was a load of fun. The girls all got pedicure sets for gift bags.
Jamie got an American Girls doll from her dad and me. She got Kit. She loves her. Now she wants all of the little things that go with her. And daddy is willing to start her out on that track. He's so cute with her. She just might get the bed for Christmas. :)

Drip sprinklers for my potted plants!

I installed a drip line that goes from one of my sprinkler heads, to 5 pots containing flowers on my front porch. I feel so handy! hehe! Joe helped me dig down and put the attatchment on the sprinkler head. Then I did all of the pipes and little drip thingys in the pots. They work well. My flowers are going to be soooooooooooo happy this summer! I don't have to water them by hand, and I don't have to depend on someone else to do that while I'm gone! Wahoo!

Jamie's 2nd Recital

Jamie had her second recital! She did so great. She didn't make any mistakes. None that I could tell anyway. And she is now using both hands while playing. Her birthday is coming up. She's going to be 8! I can't believe she was just a baby a short while ago.

New Hummingbird

There was a new Hummingbird discovered in Columbia. Isn't it beautiful? I have, in the last couple years, fell in love with birds. I started stitching baby birds that are adapted from paintings by Valarie Pfeiffer. They are so cute and fluffy. And ever since, I've been in love with birds. So when I saw this bird, I had to post about it. It is so cute! And the colors are so beautiful. I have a hummingbird feeder in my back yard, but I think our neighborhoods are so new that we don't have any hummingbirds there yet. I'm going to get some hummingbird plants and see if I can't attract some. :-)

Race for the cure!

I ran the Race for the Cure 5K this morning. Previously when I've ran a 5K, I've trained before running it. Today I did it cold turkey, so to speak. I haven't been running at all. Just a little jog here and there, no more than once a month. Schools has been very busy for me. Anyway, I usually have fun the 5K in about 35 minutes. If we started the race on time, which I think we did, I ran it is 40 minutes! Wahoo! Not too bad. I'm a little tired now.
I ran the race for two ladies that I know. One of my assistants Lenae was diagnosed a year ago. She is doing great now. Another friend who subs for me, Barbara, is also a survivor. She was first diagnosed 16 years ago, and then a year ago again. She too is doing fine now too. :-)

Lock 'em up!!!!!!!

Today I went with one of my students on a fourth grade field trip. We went to The Old Idaho State Penitentiary. We got to see an evolution of prison life and buildings. In Idaho City there is a log cabin type jail cell. Then they built a sand stone type building here. After a while the buildings had to get bigger and bigger. It is unbelievable to me that this prison was used up until 1973, when a riot burned two buildings. Now it is a museum.

The prisoners were self sufficient with their building materials, and food. They quarried stone from the hills, and had orchards and farms. Pretty neat. And nice not to be such a burden on society.

It was a fun day. But I don't think I really need to go there with the girls. Maybe the botanical gardens that are in front of the jail. That would be much more fun!

My New bedding!

I got some new bedding yesterday! Wahoo! The sheets are in the washer! Tonight I'll get to sleep in my new bed! :-) It is soooooooo cute! Some reviews said that the comforter bleeds when washed. So I'll have to dry clean it. No biggie! I try not to get it dirty anyway. They never look new and nice after they've been washed. I'm so excited! :-)

Jamie's Special Gift!

This is my daughter! She has the kindest heart of any 7, almost 8, year old I know. She donated 10 inches of her hair to Locks of Love. This is her second time. The first time she donated her hair was 2 years ago when she turned 6, on her 6th birthday, actually. She tells me she loves her short hair. But when I ask if she's going to donate it again, she says yes! She's so sweet. She loves helping other people.

What truly makes me happy

Jamie and Faith are such great little girls. They play with each other for hours and hours, with minimal fighting. They love each other as well as me and Joe. They love God, and Jesus, what more could a mom want! They are well behaved and are heart broken when they hurt our feelings.

Without my faith in Jesus, nothing could make me truly happy. I thank God everyday for what I have. We all go through tough times, and I am no exception. My faith in Christ is what keeps me going through all of the tough times. I can't imagine my life without Him.

What gives you true happiness?

The Bourne Ultimatum

I love Matt Damon! I don't know why. He's pretty average looking, not a hunk like Matthew McConaughey. But he seems like such a nice guy, like someone who would joke with you but be so sincere when needed. Matthew is the fling type, while Damon is the marrying type. hehe!

Anyway, The Bourne Ultimatum, the sequal to The Bourne Identity is coming out August 3rd. I can't wait. I love these movies. I love the first one. When he gets hurt in the beginning and is hurt... (sigh) I just want to jump into the screen and make him feel better. You can bet that on opening night, I'll be at the theater watching this movie!

ACK!!!! What a day!!!!

What a day! I feel like a hamster running on a wheel that is getting no where. I forgot when Music was this morning for a student. Then we missed one more class in the afternoon. I finally got him into on at 2:00. Which works out because he has recess right after that. Then home shortly after that. Whew!

I missed a meeting for a transition for a 5th grader going to middle school. The teacher at the middle school was calling and calling out school. He couldn't get through for 20 minutes! I gave him my cell phone so he can call me direct next time. Then a parent came in to drop off registration papers. She came right in the middle of my working with a student. When I finally get down there, they have it all worked out. This was all in the middle of the time I should have been at the middle school. I'm a little frazzled now. YIKES! Breath in... Breath out... Breath in... Breath out!!!!!! :-)

Whew! I need a vacation from my vacation!

Spring break was a blast! My mom and sister came up to visit me and the girls for the whole week of Spring break. I didn't want to miss a moment with them, so I stayed up late every night. And I didn't sleep in every morning, so I'm a little tired. It was hard to get out of bed this morning.

My mom and sister got to hear Jamie at piano lessons, and see Faith at Gymnastics practice. That was fun. I hadn't' seen Faith at gymnastics practice for quite a while. We had to switch her to morning practice because she was napping on the way to afternoon practice. When we'd get there, she'd be tired and grumpy. She is doing so well! I think she might be able to go somewhere with it if she keeps it up.

I want to thank my mom and sister for coming to visit me. My mom taught me how to sew, which was great. I made two dresses. I'll have to get the pictures and post them on here. They turned out really cute! I want to make a curtain for the door in my classroom, and a cover for the girls' playground. I have big plans!!!!!!! And I want to sew curtains for my house. It is way cheaper to do that than it is to buy ready made curtains. :-)

I ran two miles!

I didn't run it very fast, but I ran it. It took me thirty minutes to run it, but that is a start. I've ran two times in a week. So I need to get on it and do it again. It was way too windy to run outside today. I had to run on the treadmill. I didn't want to be blown away! YIKES!

My mom and sister are here. We're having a good time. The girls are having a good time with their aunt and grammie. :-)

I'll post my thoughts on being a mom when my mom is gone. I'm thinking about what I'm going to be writing. :-)

Monday, March 19, 2007

Spring Break fun with the girls!

Not just my girls. My mom and sister are coming for spring break! What fun! I can't wait. I'm not sure what we'll do, but I'm sure we'll do something fun! I'd like to organize something, or redo my dining room table and chairs. But if we don't get to that, no biggie! :-) It will be fun to spend time with two of the most important women in my life.

Finally! A picture of my Tattoo!

Here is a picture of my tattoo. Isn't it cute? Not your typical biker babe tattoo. My friend Kristi, that went with me, was thinking it was kind of funny to be pulling up to a tattoo parlor that was between two bars in a periwinkle beetle bug. hehe! Now that it is warmer outside, my tattoo can come out and play. One of the antenna is "broken" because I flinched. It sure hurt! But I think it is worth it.
One more week of school then it is spring break! I don't know how I'm going to make it the last quarter of school without any big breaks! YIKES!

1/2 price Sharpies!!!!!!!!

Wahoo! Sharpies! And they were 50% off too! :-) I've been wanting them, but didn't want to spend the money on them. I've been checking around for them. Today I checked at Staples.com and they were on sale. So I went over and got some! :-) I did a little happy dance. It's the simple things that make a teacher happy! :-)

Speaking of the simple things, I had a ball at school today. A couple of the teachers were going to make it look like Leprachauns came to visit their classrooms while their students were at specials. So I helped and added little green footprints to the tables, and spread some gold glitter here and there. It was so much fun! The kids were so excited. We had such a laugh. It was like Christmas without spending all of the money on presents. And the kids were just as excited about it. :-)

Maggie's new "brush!"

This is Maggie's new hair removal tool. I just brushed her on Sunday, as you know. HOLY COW! I only got one side of her today with this tool, but I got a ton more hair! It is called the Furmanator. Kind of a funny name. :-) I'll have to try to get the other side tomorrow. She didn't let me get her other side, and we had piano lessons to get to. I sure hope it works. It was kind of pricey, but is supposed to be worth it. It removes the undercoat that is the main hair that sheds. So hopefully the Dyson will be picking up less hair. :-) Maggie sheds a lot, so any tool I can use to help keep the hair out of the house is great. :-) I always joke that after I brush Maggie it looks like a bunny exploded in the yard! So much hair!

Maggie should be bald!

I brushed my dog today, and she should be bald! HELLO! Where does all of that hair come from? She is a 85 lb dog from the pound. She is possibly Boxer/German Shepard mix, and possibly 7 years old. She had a limp when we got her. It seemed like her hip was bad. She doesn't limp anymore. I make sure she get glucosamine, and a multivitamen, along with dog food for older dogs. Plus we try to walk her as much as we can. The funniest part about Maggie is she has no tail. That in itself isn't funny, but when she is happy the little nubbin wags. She has short hair, but at the tail area it is a little longer and you can see it wagging underneath the hair!

Anyway, after our walk to the park today, I brushed her. Sheesh! And then I still see hair that the bursh didn't get. I ordered a new comb that is supposed to be able to get the undercoat. I hope it works. She sheds pretty bad. And this time of the year she is losing her winter coat. What she has of it, since she is an inside dog.

She is the sweetest dog. I love adopting dogs from rescue or the pound. I don't think I'll ever buy a dog any other way. I do want a Westie someday, but will get one through a rescue. My family always rescued dogs from the pound. We have had some of the sweetest dogs, and I think they know they were rescued. So they were extra sweet. :-)

Joe's job worries!

Joe told me that Micron, the company they are contracted with up here, are not going to renew their contract with the same amount of help that they have now. They are going to reduce the contract. This may mean that Joe will be out of a job starting Jan next year! Even my friend Kristi's dh who is higher level than Joe is worried. I also found out that they told another company the same thing. And they put a hiring freeze in place. I sure hope that things turn around this year and they don't have to let Joe or anyone else go. Sheesh! I was going along thinking things were just peachy. That's what I get for thinking that. URG!

Bob Greene and "Get with the Program!"

I found my old book by Bob Greene, Get with the Program. The first step it to get moving and drink water, at least 6 - 8 oz glasses of water a day. I started this part this week. His book said that I should not weigh myself again until I start phase three. So here I am. I'll have to read and see how long phase one is. I forget. I followed this program once before and it worked. But something happened, and I got off of it. I can't remember.
Well, I have to go and drop off Jamie at a play date! TTFN!

Turning a new corner!

I am going to start concentrating more on eating right, exercising, and hopefully losing weight. I am going to start a tracking "report" on the side of this blog. I will appreciate all the encouragement I can get. The more the better, :)

I did get a chance to work out this evening on the treadmill for 30 minutes. All this week I've been drinking my water and cut back on soda.

TTFN!

I've been watching these movies on the Hallmark Channel. I've been trying to catch them every time they are on. So I decided to buy them. There are four of them until April or May. Then another one is coming out. I'm a little sad that
Katherine Hagel isn't in them in any of them after the first 2.

I also decided that I want to read the series. So I bought it. There are 8 books in the series. I figure the movies and the books are a good investment because they are good wholesome books that the girls can read when they are old enough. There aren't many books and movies that teach good Christian values. Especially ones as well made and written as these movies and boos are. :)

The best kind of snow!

This morning I woke up to snow! And it is the best kind of snow. Big gorgous flakes, and it didn't stick to the roads or sidewalks! Wow! I love it! I love waking up to see snow. It makes me feel like a kid again. Except in Nebraska when I was a kid, it was much colder and the snow did stick to the roads. But I didn't have to drive in it! :)

Tonight is my last class of the school year. Wahoo! I have two more credits to take. I may just start my masters next fall and let that take care of the two credits. I'm trying to decide whether to get my masters in Curriculum and Instruction (regular ed.) or Physical Education. I would love to teach PE. I'll have to think about it, and see which would be easier too.

Oh, I'm reading a new book. Francine Rivers again! This time I'm reading her Mark of the Lion series. It is good so far. It is set in the time soon after Christ when the Jews revolted and tried to gain back Jeruselum. It of course didn't work and the story is about what happens right after. I've only read 3 chapters, but so far, so good. I love Biblical fiction. Of course, I love Biblical Non-fiction as well. :-)

I'm so hungy!!!!!!!

I had lunch, but man! I'm still hungry! So I'm sitting here eating a snack bag of popcorn. I could eat about 10 of these bags. hehe! I'll have to make sure I get something filling and healthy for dinner. Like a salad, or something, a big honkin' salad! "Can I get that salad bar to go?"

I'm having a Stampin' Up party on Thursday. I hope I get some orders. If not, I'll at least have some friends over. That is all that matters.

I've been writing an IEP all day long! Whew! That is a long process. But at least I'm mostly done with it now.

I have class tonight and tomorrow night. Then I'm done until summer. I'll have to take two classes this summer, then I'll have all my credits for my certification for fall of 08. Whew! :) And next year I won't have to take classes, unless I start my Master's work.

Valentine's day!

We had a great valentines day. I try to make it really fun for the girls. Dh and I really don't like to go out when there are crowds anyway, so we don't go on a date on that night anyway.

We surprised the girls with doughnuts for breakfast, which they never get, and presents. Then we ordered a heart shaped pizza for dinner. They loved that! So cute. The girls and I watched The Peanuts Valentine's show, and the Pooh Valentines show. So romantic, hehe!

I'm still fighting my chest cold thing. My jeans are starting to get tight from all of the steriods. I migth at least start walking to help keep that in check. I don't want to get my fat pants out! No more fat pants!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, only around the house. hehe!

Jamie's first piano recital

Jamie had her first piano recital tonight. She did very well. She didn't play too fast, which was a concern. She wasn't too nervous or anything! I was very proud of her. This picture is of her and one of my best girlfriends, Melissa and her red piano! Isn't it beautiful!

TGIF! What a long week!

I'm so ready to rest again. This cough is killing me! And it seems like bronchitis. I'm going to try to get into my allergist on Monday.

I'll post more when I feel better!

Wednesday, February 7, 2007

OMGOSH! Wouldn't you know it!

As soon as I get my new running shoes, I get a chest cold, or bronchitis. I'll know in a few more days which it is. Just my luck though. I really wanted to start my running this week too. Oh well! I'll get started as soon as I get rid of this crud.

I've spent the last two days at home resting. I called out sick from work. I still had a class I need to attend to move up on the pay scale though. I can't miss that! I don't want to lose my $10 check! hehe! There are quite a few Hunter teachers in this class, so it is going by very quickly. And I'm working with them on the lesson plans, so it isn't hard at all!

I'm going to try to go to work tomorrow and see how it goes. I'm feeling better. Although I sound worse. That is always how it goes though.

Hopefully I'll be running in no time!

I got new running shoes! Amanda and I went to Bandana Running and Walking store. It was fun. Didn't take me too long because I had a very helpful associate helping me. That is the way to go. The girls tagged along with me on my walk, so I didn't get to run today, but will try on Monday morning, if i can get up that early. If not, I plan on running Wed, Thurs and Fridays after school. I can sent the girls home on the bus and run before I go home. Then I won't get too tired, and I won't have to wake up early. That is the biggest part of my goal, not waking up early.

URG! I got on the scale this week too. So I really, really, really need to start running. I've been sick with a cold, and have been using my steriod inhaler. That thing makes me gain weight like nothing else. Whew! I try to only use it when I'm sick though. You're supposed to use it all of the time. But that makes me gain too much weight. NO WAY!

Oh, and I'm also going to cut back on soda. I drink way too much. But I do love my bubbles! hehe! Still, why bother running, if I'm still going to drink that stuff all of the time.

Time to start working out again!

Not only do I need to get in shape, my dog's hip has started making a popping sound again. So I need to walk her, as well as start jogging again myself. So Friday I'm headed to a local running store to get some new shoes. I have really high arches, so I need good shoes (read: expensive). I've started walking Maggie around the block, and she already sounds better.

School has been going well. I have had some kids out with a bad cold that is going around. So I've gotten some paper work done that I needed to work on. One of my students is in the hospital with pnemonia, so keep her in your prayers.

I'll post more about my getting in shape later. I want to walk after school, but I may be going by the hospital to see my student. So I might not have time. Maybe just to go around the block with Maggie.

Oh, the joys of teaching special ed!

I was sitting here enjoying my break while the kids were at recess, when a teacher came knocking at my outside door. She said she was by herself out there, and one of the special needs kids just went to the bathroom outside! OMYGOSH! I didn't think it was one of my students. They would never....!!!! But, NOPE! One did! At least he went over to the grass! LOL! It is never dull here!

Like I told my mom, at least I look good today! I dressed up in a cute outfit. So at least I have that! :-)

Sunday nap controversy

So, the controversy about Sunday afternoon naps is: they feel sooooooo good, but then Sunday night you can't get to sleep. And then Monday you are cranky. It doesn't help that I'm cranky already. I'm going to need a lot of chocolate in the next two weeks, that if for sure! I sure hope I can fall asleep at a decent hour tonight, because I had a really long nap this afternoon.

Church was fun! I love teaching 4s and 5s. They are so cute. Preschoolers just love their teachers. :)

Well, I'd better get the girls to bed. See you all tomorrow!

Busy day!

We've been busy here cleaning, just as I had planned. That doesn't always happen. There are 101 other things I'd rather do. But you have to do, what you have to do!

The girls are playing with a couple of neighbor girls, and we're enjoying the silence. I should go check on them. :-) We are going to have movie night and watch Dreamer with Kurt Russell and Dakota Fanning.

I'm teaching Sunday school tomorrow. It is my last time until March. whew! :-)

I hope you all have had a great weekend, so far!

I'm a blogger at last!

My friends here at work are blogging, so I thought I'd join the group and blog!

TGIF! This week had taken forever to get over with! Of course it is our first full week of the year so far. The kids finally settled back into the routine this week, so they aren't quite to crazy. Whew!

My husband and I are going on a date tonight! :-) We're going to go see The Good Shepard, and then maybe we'll grab dessert somewhere. We're never hungry for dessert when we go out to eat. So this will be a nice treat. Better than going and eating a big dinner before the movie and being uncomfortable afterwards. That is never fun.

This weekend is cleaning weekend at our house. I have to clean until I drop. I've been frightfully busy with work and getting progress reports out and such. So I need to concentrate on my house. Thanks to my husband though. He really had been helping me out a lot with the house and girls. He's so great! :-)
